** SRE beats Q2 profit estimates, owing to growth in its U.S. utility operations and cost cuts

** Co posts Q2 profit of 89 cents per share vs analysts' estimate of 85 cents per share - data compiled by LSEG

** Its Oncor unit in Texas reported a 40% jump in interconnection requests and added nearly 20,000 new premises in Q2

** Including session's moves, SRE shares down 5.8% YTD
