Oct 7 (Reuters) - The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq nudged higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark index hitting a fresh intraday record high, while investors awaited commentary from a slate of Federal Reserve speakers for clarity on policy direction.  .N

At  11:30 EDT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI was down 0.21% at 46,595.38. The S&P 500 .SPX was down 0.37% at 6,715.62, and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC was down 0.59% at 22,806.44.
