** Four Chinese tech firms, including Baidu and SenseTime
Group 0020.HK , launched their artificial intelligence (AI)
chatbots to the public after receiving government approval, as
China's government pushes to widen the use of such products amid
competition with the United States
** Baidu said its ChatGPT-like chatbot, Ernie Bot, was now
fully accessible to the public, while a SenseTime spokesperson
said its chatbot, SenseChat, was also now "fully available to
serve all users"
** Two AI startups, Baichuan Intelligent Technology and
Zhipu AI, also announced similar public launches
** Shares of SenseTime jump 7.3% to HK$1.62, highest since
Aug. 15
** The Hang Seng Composite Index on information technology
firms .HSCIIT falls 1.2%, while the Hang Seng Tech Index slips
0.8%
** The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index .HSCE and the
Hang Seng Index .HSI ease 0.7% and 0.8%, respectively
