Siemens Energy CEO says getting sufficient rare earths from China
Siemens Energy CEO says getting sufficient rare earths from China HAMBURG, June 11 (Reuters) - Siemens Energy ENR1n.DE is getting all the materials it needs from China, its chief executive Christian Bruch said, singling out rare earths that are required to build wind and gas turbines.
The supply of rare earths has become a key focal point as Europe largely depends on China in this field, adding to an already complicated relationship that is shaped by rivalries in policy and trade.
The company at the same time is continuing efforts to further diversify its supply of rare earths, including with Japan and Australia, Bruch said at a company event in Hamburg
This, however, only covers around 15-20% of the company's demand
"So we're still getting the majority of these products from China. That's likely to remain the case for a long time"
