AMSTERDAM, March 15 (Reuters) - SIF Holding NV SIFG.AS ,
the Dutch builder of massive steel bases used by offshore wind
turbines, on Thursday reported a fall in 2017 profit and warned
its factories could be underutilized in 2018, given its current
order book.
The company reported full-year earnings before interest,
taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of 57.1 million
euros ($70.6 million), compared with 65.4 million euros in 2016,
the year it listed on the Euronext stock exchange.
The company said in a statement that it has drawn up plans
to temporarily reduce the size of its workforce and has spoken
to its banks about "how to address an eventual lower level of
activity."
It said it could not give an outlook for 2018 earnings, but
it expects good conditions in 2019 "and beyond," given current
plans by energy constructors to develop offshore wind turbine
farms in the North Sea.
