Sika CEO sees upside from clarity created by U.S.-EU trade deal

BAAR, Switzerland, July 29 (Reuters) - Sika SIKA.S expects the U.S.-European Union trade deal to support construction industry demand in the United States and Europe, Chief Executive Thomas Hasler said on Tuesday.

Demand had been hesitant as investors awaited clarity on tariffs, with some projects put on hold, he told Reuters after Sika reported its first half results.

"Now we believe that the dust is going to settle. With the EU having a deal, there will be less uncertainty and the momentum there will continue in the third quarter," Hasler said.

"The disruptive risk of a 30% tariff and going into a trade war would have put investments further out, but now we have clarity," he said.

U.S. construction projects would also benefit with an end to the confusion about what tariffs could be imposed, he added.
