Australian communication regulator sues Optus over 2025 Triple Zero outage
Australian communication regulator sues Optus over 2025 Triple Zero outage July 30 (Reuters) - Australia's communications regulator said on Thursday it has launched Federal Court proceedings against Optus Mobile over a September 2025 network outage that affected some users' ability to connect to the country's Triple Zero emergency call service.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) alleged that Optus Mobile breached two legal obligations 1,005 times during a mid-September 2025 outage by failing to provide access to the emergency call service and ensure emergency calls were carried to the relevant termination point.
