POLITICS (*) Italy has strongly renewed an appeal to its citizens to leave Iran because of the security situation in the country, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday. There are around 600 Italians in Iran, most of them in the Tehran area, it added. ECONOMY ISTAT releases November industrial output data (0900 GMT) and November foreign trade data (1100 GMT). Bank of Italy releases November data on public finances, state borrowing and debt. ENI ENI.MI Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is poised to back CEO Claudio Descalzi for a new three-year term at the energy group, three sources close to the matter said on Wednesday, paving the way for the top executive to extend his reign as the company's longest-serving head. EUROGROUP LAMINATIONS EGLA.MI Chinese private equity firm FountainVest has secured the Italian government's approval to buy a major stake in EuroGroup Laminations, a document showed on Wednesday, under a plan to take the electric motor component maker private.
