Southwestern Energy shares jump after WSJ report of possible merger with Chesapeake

** Shares of Southwestern Energy  SWN.N  were up 7% after a
volume spike while shares of Chesapeake Energy  CHK.O  were up
about 3% in late trading Fri after the Wall Street Journal
reported the companies may be near a $17 bln merger
    ** Such a deal would create a company that would rank as one
of the largest natural-gas producers in the U.S., according to
the report, which cited people familiar with the matter
