U.S. stocks gained ground on Tuesday as oil prices extended declines, while
investor focus was squarely on the Federal Reserve's two-day meeting where
policymakers are widely expected to raise interest rates.  .N 
    At 12:00 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was up 0.95% at
33,258.7. The S&P 500  .SPX  was up 1.58% at 4,239.09 and the Nasdaq Composite
 .IXIC  was up 2.17% at 12,854.777.
