Sept 5 (Reuters) - Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet SPJT.BO posted a loss in the first quarter, after leisure travel demand on some routes took a sharp hit during the worst fighting between India and Pakistan in decades.
The troubled airline reported a loss of 2.35 billion rupees ($26.86 million) in the April-June period, compared to a profit of 1.5 billion rupees a year before.
Ties between India and Pakistan nosedived after a deadly attack in Indian Kashmir late April that New Delhi said was backed by Islamabad.
The tensions had triggered airport closures across north-west India, including Jammu, Srinagar and Amritsar, and led to Pakistani airspace being shut to Indian carriers.
