Italy - Factors to watch on April 29

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Monday.

    POLITICS
    Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced on Sunday
she will be a candidate at June's European elections in a bid to
boost support for her Brothers of Italy party, though she will
not take up a seat if elected.
    
    Pope Francis will attend this year's Group of Seven (G7)
leaders' summit to discuss the challenges posed by Artificial
Intelligence (AI), Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on
Friday.
   
    ECONOMY
    Italian Industry Minister Adolfo Urso said on Saturday he
hopes to see investments of 10 billion euros ($10.69 billion) in
Italy's micro-electronic sector this year.
    Speaking to reporters at a conference of his Brothers of
Italy party, Urso cited a a 3.2-billion-euro ($3.42 billion)
investment announced last month by Singapore-based semiconductor
firm Silicon Box, and said similar deals were in the pipeline.
    "Italy is ready to become one of the largest
micro-electronics producers in Europe," he said.
    
    Italy sees a role for nuclear energy, alongside renewable
energy sources, to meet the country's net zero emission target
by 2050, Energy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin said on
Sunday.
    
    ISTAT releases March non-EU foreign trade data (0800 GMT).
    
    DEBT
    Rating agency DBRS Morningstar on Friday confirmed its debt
rating on the Republic of Italy at 'BBB (High)', with a stable
trend. 
    
    Treasury sells 2.75-3.25 billion euros in 3.35% BTP bonds
due July 1, 2029; 3.0-3.5 billion euros in 3.85% BTP bonds due
July 1, 2034 and 3.0-3.5 billion euros in new CCTeu floating
rate certificates due April 15, 2032. Subscriptions close at
0900 GMT.
    
    COMPANIES
    BANKS
    Banks in Italy will need to set aside extra cash to cover
systemic risks, the Italian central bank said on Friday. The
buffer will amount to 1%, to be reached in progressive steps.
   
    SNAM  SRG.MI 
    The energy infrastructure group's chief executive Stefano
Venier told daily La Stampa that on-land work to complete the
liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Adriatic port of
Ravenna was 70% completed, in an interview published on
Saturday. 
    The terminal is due to receive LNG from Cyprus, Israel and
Egypt, Venier added.
    
    ARISTON  ARIS.MI 
    The Russian subsidiary of the water heating company, along
with Germany's appliance maker BSH Hausgeraete, has been placed
under the temporary management of a Gazprom entity, according to
a decree published on Friday.
    Ariston said on Saturday it had not been notified beforehand
of the Decree and was "extremely surprised by this initiative"
and is assessing the implications of this decree from a
governance and managerial standpoint.
    Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Saturday the
government had summoned Russia's ambassador to provide
clarification about the issue, adding that Rome was coordinating
with Germany and the European Commission.

    Juventus and AC Milan played out a 0-0 draw at a sold-out
Allianz Stadium in Serie A on Saturday, with both sides still

    Lazio beat Verona 1-0 on Saturday at the Olimpico stadium in
their third Serie A win in a row.

        Rome, meeting chaired by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
