* TESLA UK SALES: Tesla's TSLA.O UK car sales fell 19% year-on-year in November, preliminary data from research group New AutoMotive showed on Thursday, as the U.S. electric vehicle maker continues to lose ground in Europe to its Chinese rivals.
* GREAT BRITISH ENERGY: Great British Energy, a state-owned energy company, unveiled a five-year strategic plan on Thursday aimed at accelerating the country's transition to renewable power to help meet its climate targets.
* HSBC: HSBC's HSBA.L appointment of Brendan Nelson as chairman on a permanent basis raises questions about the Asia-focused bank's succession planning and long-term vision, corporate governance experts and analysts said on Wednesday.
* COMMODITIES: Oil prices gained on Thursday after Ukrainian attacks on Russia's oil infrastructure signalled potential supply constraints, gold prices held steady above the $4,200 mark, and Shanghai copper hit a record high.
