(*) ECONOMY
Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said he expects a positive response from the European Union to Italy's request for more lenient budget rules on energy-relatedspending to help households and businesses, in an interview with daily Corriere della Sera published on Tuesday.
DEBT
Italy posted a state sector budget deficit of 14.7 billion euros ($17.09 billion) in May compared to a shortfall of 11.68 billion euros in the same month last year, the Treasury said in a statement on Monday.

STELLANTIS STLAM.MI
The Franco-Italian car maker's sales in Italy were up 11% year-on-year in May, data showed on Monday.
The group's market share in the country stood at 28.8%, according to Reuters calculations.
(*) The goal of producing 100,000 hybrid Fiat 500s in 2026 is still a long way off, MF daily reported on Tuesday citing comments by Stellantis Chief Operating Officer for Enlarged Europe Emanuele Cappellano. The newspaper added that, according to market sources, under a negative scenario, annual output could range between 50,000 and 60,000 hybrid Fiat 500s and 5,000–10,000 electric models.
(*) The car maker said on Tuesday it will invest more than €1 billion in France to produce three future Peugeout electric and hybrid models at the Mulhouse industrial site, in Alsace, starting in 2029.

Despite price increases that have hit the sector both directly and indirectly, the Italian shipbuilder "will be sailing in calm waters for at least all of 2026", CEO Pierroberto Folgiero told Corriere della Sera daily in an interview published on Tuesday. He added that Fincantieri would pay its 12,000 Italian employees a one-off €200 bonus to help offset higher energy bills.

The Franco-Italian chipmaker said on Tuesday it had raised the revenue target for its data centre business, citing continued strong demand tied to AI infrastructure and progress in expanding capacity.
