U.S. stock indexes fell on Tuesday after Walmart's profit warning heightened
fears in the retail sector that consumers were cutting back on discretionary
spending in the face of decades-high inflation.  .N 
    
    At 11:48 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.58% at
31,802.97. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 1.11% at 3,922.73 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 1.70% at 11,581.917.
