COMPANIES

(*) STELLANTIS STLAM.MI

The automaker reported on Monday a 10% rise year-on-year in second-quarter consolidated shipments, to 1.6 million units, mainly driven by North America and Enlarged Europe, and partially offset by lower volumes in South America and Middle East & Africa.

(*) LEONARDO LDOF.MI

Western allies will seek to secure more air-defence commitments for Ukraine when they meet in Paris on Monday, as shortages have left it increasingly exposed to Russian ballistic missiles, despite recent shifts in momentum on the battlefield.

One option under consideration was for different European nations to cooperate on a system that would complement the Franco-Italian SAMP-T air defence system and/or the U.S. Patriot interceptors and give Ukraine a significant role in production.

ENI ENI.MI

The global oil market will break out of its roughly $80-$100 range by the first quarter of 2027 at the latest, boosting inflation and reducing energy demand, if the Middle East conflict continues, Claudio Descalzi, the CEO of the Italian state-controlled group, said in an interview published on Saturday by Il Sole 24 Ore.

INTESA SANPAOLO ISP.MI, MONTE DEI PASCHI (MPS) BMPS.MI, BANCO BPM BAMI.MI, GENERALI GASI.MI

The lender said on Friday that JPMorgan would be the sole M&A and lead financial adviser on its offer for Monte dei Paschi.

MPS will assess all the offers made and has a duty to look for the best alternatives, CEO Luigi Lovaglio said on Saturday when asked about Intesa's takeover bid and Banco BPM's merger proposal.

Speaking at a public event in the province of Siena, Lovaglio said he would defend MPS' role as the top investor in Italy's biggest insurer: "we cannot ignore or react to those who want to conquer Generali."

(*) UNICREDIT CRDI.MI, FINECOBANK FBK.MI, BANCA GENERALI BGN.MI, BANCO BPM

UniCredit has three possible takeover targets in Italy, according to the L’Economia supplement of Corriere della Sera: Banca Generali, "mentioned in numerous market rumors," Banco BPM, and FinecoBank. "The latter is the most intriguing" and "from an industrial standpoint, a perfect fit," according to the supplement.

SAIPEM SPMI

The merger of the Italian energy contractor with Norwegian peer Subsea 7 SUBC.OL is set to face a full-scale EU antitrust investigation because of competition concerns about the deal, people with direct knowledge of the matter said on Friday.

JUVENTUS JUVE.MI

The Italian soccer club said on Saturday it had renewed its commercial partnership with the Japanese company Cygames until 2027.

M&A, SEGAFREDO ZANETTI

BC Partners and CVC are among buyout firms considering a potential bid for Italian coffee producer Segafredo Zanetti, as private equity fund QuattroR weighs the sale of its majority stake in the company, two sources close to the matter said.
