ZURICH, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Swiss pump maker Sulzer AG
SUN.S said on Monday it had appointed chairwoman Suzanne Thoma
as executive president to replace Chief Executive Officer
Frederic Lalanne.
Thoma will take over operational management at Sulzer from
Lalanne, who will resign at the end of October, the company
added.
Lalanne only took up his role as CEO in February.
"The board of directors sees a need for action in view of
the constantly evolving market environment and the associated
structural shift in demand in the energy and infrastructure
sectors," the company said in a statement.
Thoma, a former CEO of BKW Energie BKWB.S has been asked
to conduct a thorough review and comprehensive realignment of
Sulzer's strategy, it added.
A spokesman said the decision had been taken to ensure close
cooperation between the board and management, and it had been
Lalanne's decision to leave.
Sulzer, which is due to report information on new orders on
Oct. 26, has had a tough 2022, which has seen it quit Russia
following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
During the first six months of the year, it swung to an
separating profit loss of 25 million Swiss francs ($24.94
million), as the company incurred one-off expense of 141 million
francs related to the exit.
