U.S. main stock indexes slipped on Thursday after unexpectedly strong inflation
data and a fall in weekly jobless claims fed into fears that the Federal Reserve
will keep raising interest rates to tame high prices.  .N 
    At 13:48 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.43% at
33,980.62. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.45% at 4,129.12 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 0.50% at 12,009.966.
