Adds response by Colorado regulator
May 12 (Reuters) - Suncor Energy SU.TO said on Tuesday a third-party power outage on Monday caused an unplanned operational shutdown at its 98,000-barrel-per-day Commerce City refinery in Colorado.
The company said the facility was undergoing startup activities following the shutdown and that smoke or increased flaring may be visible.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said in an emailed response that it had sent an inspector to the refinery following the incident, and it continued to closely monitor air pollution levels in the area.
