Factbox: Canada's oil sands poised for expansion
Nov 15 (Reuters) - Canada's oil sands, the largest source of crude oil
imports for the United States, is set for a massive expansion over the next
seven years. With current production pegged at just under two million barrels
per day, output could more than double by 2020, with announced projects over
that time potentially adding more than three million barrels per day of output.
The following table compiles announced projects in northern Alberta's oil
sands that are expected to begin operations by 2020. The list includes projects
in various stages; some are under construction, some are still seeking
regulatory review, some have not yet moved past the announcement stage. However
they all have an anticipated in-service date of between 2014 and 2020.
