Telecom Italia weighs early exit from INWIT contract, sources say

MILAN, March 25 (Reuters) - Telecom Italia (TIM) is considering an early termination of its long‑term contract with Italian telecoms tower operator INWIT INWT.MI, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The move would mirror a similar step by Swisscom's Fastweb SCMN.S, INWIT's other main client, piling pressure on Italy's largest mast operator.

The sources, who said early termination of the contract is the most likely scenario, added that TIM directors are expected to discuss the matter at a board meeting over the coming weekend.

Telecom Italia declined to comment.

The towers company is resisting a push to renegotiate its contracts with its main tenants, saying it would be an unjustified revision of their original terms.

The contracts generate nearly 85% of INWIT's revenue
