The benchmark S&P 500 index was flat on Thursday as losses in Apple Inc and
energy companies stalled a strong rally from the previous session, with
investors looking ahead to monthly jobs data for cues on the path of future
interest rate hikes.  .N 
    
    At 12:13 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 52.68
points, or 0.16%, at 32,759.82, the S&P 500  .SPX  was up 1.40 points, or 0.03%,
at 4,156.57, and the Nasdaq Composite  .IXIC  was up 36.65 points, or 0.29%, at
12,704.81.
