Feb 25 (Reuters) - Australia's Tabcorp TAH.AX on Wednesday reported a near 62% rise in first-half earnings that eclipsed market expectations, supported by a modestly improving turnover environment and cost management, sending its shares soaring 20%.
The betting firm's stock jumped to A$1.020, marking its sharpest intraday rise since August 27, 2025, and topping the leaderboard at the benchmark ASX200 .AXJO, which gained 1.1%.
The Victoria-headquartered firm reported A$35.7 million ($25.31 million) as net profit attributable before significant items for the first-half ending December 31.
This was above Visible Alpha's A$25.07 million consensus and surpassed last year's A$22.1 million.
