INDIA STOCKS-Indian shares ease as elevated oil, bond yields weigh Updates for morning trade

Sept 15 (Reuters) - Indian shares erased opening gains on Tuesday, as concerns over elevated oil prices and global bond yields ahead of this week's Federal Reserve meeting overshadowed gains in IT stocks and the country's largest private lender, HDFC Bank.
The benchmark Nifty 50 .NSEI was down 0.03% to 23,391.3, while the BSE Sensex was up 0.02% to 74,799.16, as of 9:59 a.m. IST.
IT stocks .NIFTYIT soared 3.4% after calls for a slowdown in AI development. India's biggest software services companies Tata Consultancy Services TCS.NS and Infosys INFY.NS rose about 5% each.
IT stocks have lagged the market over the last year as new AI tools threatened their business models.
Among other stocks, HDFC Bank HDBK.NS, which has the largest weight on the benchmarks, jumped 2.1% after it sent names of two candidates to the Reserve Bank of India for the role of CEO.
"A qualified external candidate with a strong banking track record could be more supportive of a sustained re-rating, given the potential for a strategic reset and a longer leadership runway," analysts at Nomura said.
Thirteen of the 16 major sectors were trading lower. The broader small-caps .NIFSMCP100 and mid-caps .NIFMDCP100 fell 0.7% and 0.4%, respectively.
"The macro scenario will continue to be under pressure from the rising crude price. Brent crude at $107 and the damage caused to the Saudi East-West oil pipeline from the Houthi attack will continue to weigh on markets," said VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Investments.
Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis launched a new wave of attacks on Saudi Arabia and were digging into positions on the western coast of Yemen along the Red Sea, Yemeni officials said.
Tata Chemicals TTCH.NS and Tata Investment Corp TINV.NS soared 20% and 12%, respectively, after two sources said India's central bank rejected Tata Sons' application to deregister as a non-bank lender, reviving prospects of a stock market listing for the holding firm.
