    POLITICS
    The European Union needs a stronger common energy policy and
strategy, Italy's new Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti told
his German counterpart Christian Lindner in a meeting in Berlin
on Wednesday.
    Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday defended
a tough crackdown on unlicensed rave parties introduced this
week by her new government and dismissed accusations it impinged
on public freedoms.
    ECONOMY
    ISTAT releases September unemployment rate data (0900 GMT).
    Italy posted a state sector budget deficit of 7.25 billion
euros ($7.16 billion) in October compared to a shortfall of 7.51
billion euros in the same month last year, the Treasury said in
a statement on Wednesday.
    COMPANIES
    FERRARI  RACE.MI  
    Ferrari said it was confident about its prospects for this
year and the next as demand for its luxury cars as well its
pricing power remain strong despite broader economic worries in
many of its main markets.
    TELECOM ITALIA  TLIT.MI  
    The head of Telecom Italia (TIM) met a top aide of new
right-wing Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday,
two political sources said, as investors speculate over
potential government moves to help address the former phone
monopoly's woes.
    BANCA MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA  BMPS.MI 
    When Monte dei Paschi di Siena closes its 2.5 billion euro
($2.5 billion) capital raise on Thursday, the banks that dragged
their feet about backing it will be left holding shares worth
only a few dozen million euros.
    Axa on Wednesday confirmed it was taking part in the MPS
capital increase for an amount that could reach 200 million
euros.

    Industry-wide car sales in Italy rose 14.56% in October, the
transport ministry said on Wednesday. Stellantis' share of the
Italian car market rose to 32.85%.

    Italy's top commercial broadcaster said on Wednesday it had
secured a further 4% of Prosiebensat.1  PSMGn.DE , bringing its
stake in the German media company to 29% of the share capital,

    Dufry said on Wednesday it expected the closing of the
transfer of Edizione's 50.3% stake in Autogrill to Dufry to
happen by the end of the first quarter of next year.
