** Shares of specialty chemicals maker Chemours Co CC.N fall 1.3% to $15.20 in extended trading

** Company's chair of the board of directors, Dawn Farrell, to resign effective September 2

** Farrell will be accepting an appointment with the Canadian government as chief executive officer of the newly created Major Projects Office

** Company adds that no decision has been made regarding Farrell's successor as chair of its board, with an announcement expected in due course

** Up till last close, stock down 8.9% YTD
