US STOCKS LITTLE CHANGED IN EARLY TRADE AS NVIDIA WEIGHS

U.S. stocks are holding near the unchanged mark on Thursday as a decline of more than 1% in AI behemoth Nvidia NVDA.O is keeping gains in check, after the chipmaker reported its quarterly results.

However, despite a lukewarm sales forecast, CEO Jensen Huang dismissed concerns about an end to a spending boom on artificial intelligence chips and said opportunities will expand into a multi-trillion-dollar market over the next five years.

On the economic front, weekly initial jobless claims dipped by 5,000 to 229,000, slightly below the 230,000 estimate of economists polled by Reuters, while U.S. corporate profits rebounded in the second quarter and gross domestic product growth was revised higher, although tariffs may prove restrictive to further expansion.

Investors will eye a $44 billion Treasury auction of 7-year notes US7YT=RR later today to gauge demand for debt, while the 2-year note US2YT=RR held close to a four-month low as expectations for upcoming rate cuts from the Federal Reserve remained intact.

Among S&P 500 .SPX sectors, Communication Services .SPLRCL is leading gains, while healthcare .SPXHC is the worst performer, as Cooper Companies COO.O plummets more than 12% after its quarterly results and outlook.
