US FTC blocks Loctite maker from acquiring Liquid Nails
US FTC blocks Loctite maker from acquiring Liquid Nails Aug 17 (Reuters) - Henkel AG & Co. KGaA HNKG.DE, the maker of construction adhesive Loctite, was blocked from acquiring competitor brand Liquid Nails when a U.S. court agreed with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission challenge to the deal on Friday.
German corporation Henkel agreed to buy the Liquid Nails adhesive brand for $725 million from private equity firm American Industrial Partners in April 2025.
The FTC sued to block the deal in December, saying it would eliminate competition between the main two construction adhesives available to consumers in the U.S. at retailers such as The Home Depot HD.N.
A judge in New York ruled to block the deal, but did not publicly release her full decision to give the companies time to request redactions to sensitive information.
