New York Times countersues US employment agency over its diversity and hiring lawsuit
New York Times countersues US employment agency over its diversity and hiring lawsuit NEW YORK, July 10 (Reuters) - The New York Times NYT.N sued the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Friday, saying the agency's lawsuit accusing the newspaper of passing over a white man for a top editorial role to meet what the agency viewed as illegal diversity goals was unconstitutional.
The countersuit filed in Manhattan federal court seeks to dismiss the EEOC's case, a declaration that the agency's actions violate the U.S. Constitution's First and Fifth Amendments, and other remedies.
