** The New York Times Co's NYT.N shares rise 6.5% to $82.23 premarket

** Co added 310,000 digital-only subscribers in Q1 vs Visible Alpha estimates of 270,513 additions

** Digital-only subscription revenue grew 16.1% in Q1, above VA estimates of 15%

** Q1 revenue came in at $712.2 mln vs analysts' avg. estimate of $699.9 mln - data compiled by LSEG

** Q1 adj. EPS of 61 cents vs LSEG estimates of 47 cents

** Up to last close, stock had risen 11.3% YTD
