U.S. stock indexes fell sharply on Thursday, with the Dow on track for its
steepest single-day fall in three months, as the Federal Reserve's guidance for
protracted policy tightening quelled hopes of the rate-hike cycle ending anytime
soon.  .N 
    At 11:40 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 2.24% at
33,204.39. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 2.46% at 3,896.87 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 2.90% at 10,846.744.
