German defence ministry ditches delayed frigate project
German defence ministry ditches delayed frigate project BERLIN, June 24 (Reuters) - Germany's defence ministry has decided to halt the construction of six F126-class frigates due to significant delays in the project, expected cost increases and the risks associated with a change of main contractor, it said on Wednesday.
As an alternative, it aims to buy 8 MEKO frigates, primarily for anti-submarine warfare, the ministry said in a statement.
