Ari Emanuel's MARI buys theater operator ATG Entertainment
Ari Emanuel's MARI buys theater operator ATG Entertainment Aug 11 (Reuters) - MARI Group said on Tuesday it has signed a deal to acquire British West End theater operator ATG Entertainment, in the latest acquisition by the global live events company founded by Hollywood power broker Ari Emanuel last year.
Here are more details:
Financial terms of MARI's acquisition of the theater operator from Providence Equity Partners were not disclosed, but the Financial Times said the deal was valued at about £4.5 billion ($6.07 billion).
ATG Entertainment owns and operates 70 venues across the UK, the U.S., Germany and Spain, entertaining more than 18 million audience members each year.
ATG's portfolio includes Broadway venues including the Walter Kerr Theater and the Lyric, and features shows like "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" and "The Lion King".
Reuters had reported in May that ATG Entertainment is in the early stages of being prepared for a possible sale.
"MARI intends to act as a long-term custodian of ATG's theaters, investing in their preservation and modernization alongside an improved audience experience and support for new productions, to the benefit of theatergoers and producers alike," the company said in a statement.
Since launching MARI in October, Emanuel has acquired assets such as digital ticketing platform TodayTix, the Miami Open, Frieze art fairs and Barrett-Jackson auto auctions.
Emanuel is also the CEO of Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Wrestling Entertainment owner TKO Group TKO.N.
