Tepco To Restart Kashiwazaki: Kariwa nuclear power plant next week, Kyodo reports

TOKYO, Feb 5 (Reuters) - Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) 9501.T plans to restart a unit at its Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant after operations were suspended in January shortly after the initial restart, Kyodo news reported on Thursday.

TEPCO shut down the No.6 reactor after a malfunction was detected in late January, a day after the unit went online for the first time in about 14 years.

Kashiwazaki-Kariwa, the world's biggest nuclear power plant, is TEPCO's first reactor restart since the Fukushima disaster in 2011. The company had earlier said it would delay the commercial restart to late February.
