BEIJING, Oct 14 (Reuters) - The former general manager of
Beijing TRT Group, famed for its traditional Chinese medicine
brand Tong Ren Tang, has been expelled from the ruling Communist
Party for violating the law and party rules, China's top
anti-graft watchdog said on Thursday.
A investigation launched in February into Gao Zhenkun, 58,
found that he violated party rules by, for example, accepting
gifts that could impact his official duties and abusing his
office to seek profits for his relatives, the Central Commission
for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said on its website.
Gao's suspected criminal acts will be reviewed by
prosecuting agencies, CCDI said, citing a notice from Beijing
city's anti-graft authorities, which carried out the
investigation.
TRT is the biggest shareholder in Shanghai-listed Beijing
Tongrentang 600085.SS .
The CCDI said previously that Gao became general manager of
state-owned TRT in October 2014, and referred to him as such
when it announced the investigation. It is not clear when Gao
left the group nor whether he worked there when the alleged
violations took place.
Reuters could not immediately contact Gao. Beijing TRT was
not immediately available to comment.
Other major publicly-traded firms linked to TRT include Hong
Kong-listed Tong Ren Tang Technologies 1666.HK and Beijing
Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine 3613.HK .
