Adds new items, updates futures
Jan 7 - Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening lower on Wednesday, with futures FFIc1 down 0.28%.
* GSK: GSK's GSK.L experimental drug to treat chronic hepatitis B infection met the main goal in two closely watched studies, the drugmaker said.
* EDINBURGH WORLDWIDE: Boaz Weinstein's Saba Capital, the top shareholder of Edinburgh Worldwide Investment Trust EWI.L, said it is urging investors to elect a new, independent board after a "suspiciously timed" sell-down of the trust's SpaceX stake.
* TOPPS TILES: Topps Tiles TPT.L reported a 3.7% rise in first-quarter revenue, excluding CTD - a tiles business it acquired in 2024. The revenue was helped by resilient demand from its trade customer base of builders and contractors.
* BARCLAYS: Barclays BARC.L has bought a stake in U.S. stablecoin-settlement company Ubyx, its first such investment and part of its plans to explore "new forms of digital money", the British bank said.
* HGCAPITAL TRUST: HgCapital Trust HGT.L has invested 93 million pounds in financial software maker OneStream OS.O as part of a broader agreement for buyout firm Hg Capital to acquire the U.S. company in an all-cash deal worth $6.4 billion.
* OIL: Oil prices fell after President Donald Trump said the U.S. had reached a deal to import $2 billion worth of Venezuelan crude.
* METALS: Copper hovered near record highs after a record-setting rally.
* GOLD: Gold slid as investors booked profits after prices briefly hit a more than one-week high earlier in the session.
