Brief: Total Gabon exercises its pre-emption rights on Baudroie-Merou license

April 24 (Reuters) - Total Gabon SA  EGAB.PA : 
    * Exercised its pre-emption right to acquire 50 pct interest in Baudroie-Merou license held 
by Mitsubishi Petroleum Development Company (MPDC) 
    * Owns remaining 50 pct interest and at completion of transaction will become 100 pct owner 
and operator of license 
    * Transaction represents a value of $40 million and is subject to approval by authorities
