Volkswagen's truck unit Traton Q1 sales fall 10% on tougher market environment

April 28 - Volkswagen's truck unit Traton 8TRA.DE on Monday reported a 10% fall in first-quarter revenue, citing a continued unfavourable economic and political situation, particularly in North America.

Sales stood at 10.33 billion euros ($11.75 billion) by the end of March, missing analysts' estimate of 10.55 billion euros in a poll by Vara Research.

The German truckmaker confirmed its preliminary adjusted operating profit figure for the first quarter of 646 million euros, down 58% from last year.
