Wall Street was set to open lower on Tuesday ahead of economic data that could
clear the air on a soft landing for the U.S. economy, while investors assessed
mixed earnings from pharmaceutical heavyweights Merck and Pfizer.  .N 
    
    At 11:34 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.06% at
35,538.42. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.36% at 4,572.29 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was down 0.44% at 14,282.586.
