ANKARA, March 9 (Reuters) - Turkey's state-run lender Halkbank said on Monday it had approved signing a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) with the U.S. Attorney's Office to settle a long-running criminal case.
In a statement to the stock exchange, the bank said it would not admit to any criminal wrongdoing and would not pay any judicial or administrative fines under the agreement.
Halkbank said the DPA is expected to positively impact the bank's financial structure and improve its access to overseas funding once the agreement is finalised.
The bank said the criminal case, which has been ongoing for about nine years, would be closed once the agreement receives court approval.
