** Shares in Aygaz AYGAZ.IS climb around 9% after the Turkish oil and gas marketing and distribution company reported a better-than-expected Q2 net profit
** Aygaz posted net profit of 963.1 million lira ($23.7 million), above market expectations of 639 million lira

** "These results are expected to have a positive impact on the stock's performance," Deniz Yatirim adds
** Brokerage Global Menkul Değerler says the strong results were driven by solid performance at the Tupras TUPRS.IS, in which Aygaz holds an indirect stake through its 20% ownership in energy investment company EYAS
** EYAS, the energy investment company partly owned by Aygaz with a 20% stake, holds a 51% controlling share in Tupras
** Global Menkul Değerler adds positive operational results, and around 84 million lira drop in monetary losses and 734 million lira net profit contribution from EYAS, also helped boost the results
