FACTBOX-Major brokerages' forecasts for S&P 500 index in 2026 Updates with J.P.Morgan's S&P 500 target
August 11 (Reuters) - Top brokerages expect the benchmark S&P 500 index .SPX to extend its rally in 2026, betting on AI momentum and strong corporate earnings, while a U.S.-Iran stalemate continues to embroil global financial markets.
Strategists at major investment banks expect AI-led earnings strength to offset the short-term economic impact from the conflict in the Middle East, but concerns of higher inflation and disruption to global energy flows persist.
J.P.Morgan became the latest brokerage to raise its index target to the 8,000 mark, adding to a wave of bullish brokerage calls.
