Feb 20 (Reuters) - Belgian metal recycling group Umicore UMI.BR reported a 2025 core profit above market expectations on Friday, supported by high metal prices that cushioned impacts from currency exchange rates and inflation.
The group's adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), including associates, came in at 847 million euros ($996 million), beating analysts' forecast of 838 million euros in a Vara consensus poll.
Umicore has invested in various business activities over which it does not exercise full management control. Associate companies are those where it has a significant influence over financial and operating policies, but no control, typically owning between 20% and 50% of the voting rights.
