POLITICS
Berlin will disburse aid to migrant charity groups operating
in the Mediterranean imminently, German foreign minister
Annalena Baerbock said on Thursday, defending the work of sea
rescuers as vital amid a spat with Rome on the issue.
ECONOMY
ISTAT releases August non-EU foreign trade data (0800 GMT);
September CPI flash data (0900 GMT); July industry sales data
(1000 GMT).
Italy on Thursday signed off a deal with distributors'
associations to try to control the prices of essential goods in
the last quarter of this year, though the last word on binding
commitments remained in the hands of individual retailers.
More than a third of Italy's population will be over 65 by
2050, up from about a quarter last year, the country's
statistics office ISTAT said on Thursday, offering more evidence
of a serious demographic crisis.
