    - Brookfield Asset Management  BAM.TO  has acquired a $925
million portfolio of commercial real estate loans from U.S.
regional lender Valley National Bank  VLY.O , reflecting a
growing trend of cooperation between banks and private credit
providers.
    
    - Bank of Nova Scotia  BNS.TO  CEO Scott Thomson expects
political uncertainty in the U.S. and Mexico, key markets for
the bank's revamp strategy, to ease soon, paving the way for
strong economic growth in North America.

    - FortisBC has applied for regulatory approval to expand its
Tilbury LNG site in the Vancouver suburb of Delta, aiming for
