Verve Therapeutics drops as FDA puts heart drug study on hold

** Verve Therapeutics Inc VERV.O shares slide 11.5% to
$21.2 before the bell
** U.S. FDA places a hold on clinical trial for VERV's
experimental drug for treating patients with a type of heart
disease - SEC filing
** Health regulator has requested additional animal study
data, along with data from the ongoing early-stage trial of the
drug
** Drug developer continues to enroll patients in
early-stage study in New Zealand and United Kingdom; data from
the trial is expected in the second half of 2023
** Up to Friday's close, stock had fallen ~35% YTD
