YOUR BRITISH SHOPPING LIST
The UK market is back in play as investors look to diversify from the big portfolio
concentration that shaped price action during the first quarter of this year,
Testament to that are the record highs hit by London's FTSE 100 .FTSE in recent weeks as
market leadership broadens to other geographies, styles and sectors.
But to what exactly should one consider adding exposure?
Barclays notes that increased exposure is being taken through derivatives like call options
and futures, which might be "investors dipping their toes in before buying outright".
Yet, the UK bank has some shopping suggestions.
"We find FTSE100 and 250 both attractive, but see the latter benefiting more from lower
rates and improving domestic demand," it writes.
"Our analysts particularly like Banks, Housebuilding & Construction, Retail, Real Estate,
Leisure, Business Services, Diversified Financials, and Utilities. And in Mid & Small Cap,
domestic Consumer and Cap Goods companies".
Barclays singles out 25 overweight-rated stocks with an at least 10% upside to target. The
list includes Lloyds LLOY.L , Spectris SXS.L , Victorian Plumbing VIC.L , Tritax BBOXT.L ,
SSE SSE.L , Kingfisher KGF.L and Tesco TSCO.L , just to name a few. See the full screen in
