Virgin Australia half-year profit rises 21% on strong demand

Feb 27 (Reuters) - Virgin Australia VGN.AX posted a 20.7% rise in half-year underlying profit on Friday, lifted by strong customer demand and benefits from its transformation program.

Australia's second-largest airline reported underlying net profit after tax of A$278.7 million ($198.07 million) for the six months ended December 31, up from A$230.9 million a year earlier.
