Enquiries into investment-grade whisky casks hit new highs as UK and International Financial Advisers seek diversification for client portfolios
 
Premier London cask-whisky brokerage, VCL Vintners strikes deal with Japanese Financial Adviser and fields increasing numbers of enquiries from Finnacial Advisers in the UK, US and Far-East
 
VCL Vintners, London's destination brokerage for top-tier single malt Scotch whisky casks, has signed an international commercial deal within the Financial Advice industry, partnering with  one of Japan's leading Private Bank and Investment Advisory firms.  Under the terms of agreement, the Japanese  IFA will  start using VCL Vintners for investment-grade cask purchases as investors increasingly seek diversification.
 
VCL Vintners also reports increased enquiries from investment professionals in the UK and US throughout the last quarter. The diversification trend into whisky has been growing apace throughout the pandemic as traditional financial markets have seen volatility steadily increase, and gold and non-asset-backed digital assets experiencing particularly harsh falls. Meanwhile, the whisky market has proved relative stable, with prices holding firm with moderate, sustainable gains seen in the investment-grade cask market. 
 
Commenting on the announcement, Benjamin Lancaster, Director at VCL Vintners says:  "In the UK, Financial Advisers are cautiously watching the market but in the US, Japan and other countries in the Far East, their clients are not only interested in whisky as a product but see it very much as a cornerstone of their investment portfolios."

Benjamin Lancaster goes on to urges caution in the whisky market as the media has recently reported negatively on the super-heated premium end of the market.
 
"The headlines out there of whisky being the top performing asset class don't reflect the broader investment market for regular casks. We advise clients that returns in the 3% to 8% range are more normalised and reflective of what we, as a brokerage, are seeing. For sure, the super-prime market has been rocketing in recent years but most investment professionals and the vast majority of regular private cask buyers realise that those gains are historic, extraordinary and unstainable and are looking at more normalised rate of returns for an investment that is asset-backed and highly regulated."
