The Dow and the S&P 500 fell on Tuesday after a dour forecast from Home Depot
and April retail sales data pointed to consumers feeling the pinch from rising
prices and interest rates, ahead of crucial debt limit talks.  .N 
    
    At 13:37 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average  .DJI  was down 0.70% at
33,115.51. The S&P 500  .SPX  was down 0.30% at 4,124.05 and the Nasdaq
Composite  .IXIC  was up 0.20% at 12,389.905.
